Fancy Hands – Overview

  • Product: Fancy Hands
  • Type: Virtual Assistant Jobs
  • Owner: Ted Roden
  • Price: $17.99 up to $149.99
  • Recommended?: Read my review and find out

Overview: Fancy Hands is a website where workers will handle all the small tasks tied to a business professional’s important time.

From simple errands to quick clerical duties, you will do everything when you work for Fancy Hands.

The good news is that Fancy Hands is a legit website to find virtual assistant work. The site is active since 2010 and has helped many people to earn an income online.

But on the other hand, the company has received many complaints from unhappy users over the years. Moreover, they have a negative BBB rating, which is not a good sign for you.

Furthermore, the fact that you have to pay them a monthly fee to get access to these jobs is another red flag. For example, Paid Social Media Jobs website does the same thing.

While Fancy Hands is not a scam, I don’t recommend it. You can find the same type of work for free on platforms like Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancer, etc.

In case you need more information before making your own decision, read the rest of my Fancy Hands review.

Alternative: My #1 recommendation is a top affiliate marketing course that helps to build a successful online business from scratch! I used this exact system to go from $0 to earning $100’s per day! Learn more below!

What Is Fancy Hands?

Fancy Hands found is a virtual assistance service that hires people to do simple web-based tasks for other people online. The website was founded by Ted Roden in 2010 in New York City.

Fancy Hands Available Jobs

Here are some example tasks that you will take from this company:

  • Take care of scheduling (doctors, business, etc.)
  • Purchase items on behalf of people you
  • Online research
  • Make phone calls
  • Get refunds for people
  • Data entry
  • And more

Fancy Hands Jobs Reviews

As you can see, there are a lot of tasks you can take on in this company.

But the question is, how long does each task take? Well, that depends on the task, and you can see an estimated time before you start taking it.

The good thing about Fancy Hands is that you can more or less set your hours.

However, there is no guarantee that the tasks will be available anytime, so you have to wait, but overall you can decide when you want to work yourself.

You can do these tasks from home as some of the tasks are online or over the phone.

However, this doesn’t mean it will necessarily be worth it as it is not for everyone.

Fancy Hands Requirements

Before you can actually start working with Fancy Hands, you should realize that this opportunity is not for everyone. Below are some of the basic requirements you need:

  • Your own computer
  • Stabile internet connection
  • Written and oral communication skills
  • Expert niche knowledge
  • High level of responsibility

In the next few sections of my Fancy Hands review, I will walk you through the process of working with, getting started, and making payments with Fancy Hands.

Below is a useful video review in case you prefer this format:

How Does Fancy Hands Work?

Fancy Hands is a company that helps virtual assistants to find legitimate online work.

You can use any device like a cellphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop to take those tasks at any time of the day. The people here conduct the online jobs you need to get done most.

As an employer, you can issue a service request.

There are two types of requests for jobs, and that is live requests and standard requests.

Live Requests

The live request lets you get ten minutes of chatting with a worker for every request, while the standard request is simply twenty minutes of work.

As for the live request, you can submit it in a short amount of time, like price comparison or a phone call.

These can be charged by the minute, and if you didn’t use up all your time, you could use it on something else.

The assistants are located all over the U.S country, and the hiring process is accurate to ensure that you are matched with the best workers.

Standard Requests

If you go with the standard request, it is geared toward people who need a response from a third party, research, or some coordinating back and forth. It usually is answered within 24 hours.

If you have a job that has twenty minutes or more of work, you can still submit it as a standard request, and the Assistant will decide whether the task can be completed in that amount of time or need additional requests.

You can also issue recurring standard requests.

These online jobs need to be done every day, week, or month.

As you can see, Fancy Hands does look like a decent company for Virtual Assistant.

However, it is not available all over the country because it is only available in the U.S.

If you are not living in the U.S., then this is not for you.

How To Apply With Fancy Hands?

If you plan to apply to work with Fancy Hands, you must select which plan you want to take.

On their website, once you click the signup button, it will lead you directly to the plan and pricing section.

Fancy hands Review Plan and Pricing

As you can see, it cost $18 to $150 depending on which plan you want to take. This is the downside of this company because you have to pay to apply.

Unlike other online Jobs websites that I know, like Onlinejobs.ph or Upwork, you can join for free.

Not just that, there are many jobs opportunities there as well, and you can earn decent money, unlike here with Fancy Hands.

How Much Can You Make With Fancy Hands?

With Fancy Hands, you can earn between $3 to $7 per task, and each task takes up to 20 minutes to complete.

Fancy hands Review Payment

The total amount you can earn from here will depend on how long you’ll complete the task and the number of tasks available.

There’s no limit to how many tasks you can take.

Fancy Hands assistants around the web claim that you can earn $12 an hour on a good day.

How Does Fancy Hands Pay You?

The company will pay via Dwolla, and the payments go out every other week (on Tuesday)

They will pay you in cash which is good, even though it would have been nice to be able to get paid weekly, in my opinion.

But overall, the payout options and conditions are acceptable.

Is Fancy Hands Worth Joining?

Let me make it clear that with Fancy Hands, you can earn some money here. However, the downside here is that you have to pay to join the company.

As you have already seen, how much will it cost you every month, each plan has a limited amount of requests you can get.

Unlike other online jobs out there, you can sign up for free without paying any cost.

Also, there are times when some tasks are not available, so you have to wait for the other available task.

Not just that, some tasks will take you hours to complete, especially those that involve calling where some call could end up on hold for hours to earn $3.

That is why I don’t think that this company is worth joining, especially if you are looking to make a full-time income from home, then this is not for you.

The pay may sound decent. However, you have to be aware that it will likely not give you a high hourly rate on the contrary.

Like I said earlier, there is no guarantee that there will always be tasks for you.

That is why I would rather find a job worth joining than joining here, where you have to pay just to apply for a Virtual Assistant job.

Fancy Hands Review – Green Lights

In this section of my review, I will share some of the good things about Fancy Hands. In my opinion, this is what this website does well.

You Can Set Your Own Working Hours

One of the coolest things about this work-from-home opportunity is that you can set your own hours. You can work whenever you have free time.

This is possible because of the Fancy Hands live requests feature. In other words, you just have to log in and apply for live work.

Fancy Hands Allows You To Work From Home

Some virtual assistant jobs require having an office or to set up an LLC. An example is Arise Work From Home platform for virtual assistants.

With Fancy Hands, you don’ have to follow strict rules and you can work from home.

Payout is Every Tuesday

Some websites and online work-from-home opportunities pay you on monthly basis. In the contrast, Fancy Hands cash out the users every Tuesday.

The only downside is that you can’t leverage PayPal to get paid. More about this in the following section of my Fancy Hands review.

You Can Take As Many Task Fer Day As You Want

Another good thing is that you can take as much work per day as you want. That is, of course, if you have enough time to finish all the work.

After all, there is a responsibility at your end to actually finish each task.

Fancy Hands Review – Red Flags

Here, before you join this company, you might want to take a look at some of the red flags and complaints that we found on the web.

Low-Income Opportunity

$3 to $7 per task sounds reasonable, assuming they are fast.

However, the problem is that some tasks will take you hours to complete, especially those that involve calling the customer service of a busy firm where you could end up on hold for hours to earn $3.

As you can see, some tasks are not worth that kind of money.

Low BBB Rating

Fancy Hands is not registered with BBB (Better Business Bureau).

However, even though they are not registered, they still rate the company, and they gave them an F, which is a low rating.

There are few complaints about the company that they double-billed him for 6 months, and when he asked for a refund, the staff insulted him.

The complaint was in 2019, and there has been no response ever since.

BBB complaints

No PayPal Payments

As we all know, PayPal is the most popular option to get paid with many work at home opportunities. But, for Fancy Hands, they only pay using Dwolla.

Now, I have never heard of this one, just now, so if any of you know how Dwolla works, let us know.

Only Available In the US

As I said earlier, if you want to apply for this job, you need to be living in the US.

If you don’t live in the US, better find another one where everyone can apply no matter what country you live in.

Possibility You Might Not Get Paid

Some clients fail to approve your work for their reasons, which may or may not be justified. There are complaints that some people never got paid even when they completed the task.

So your potential income is based on the subjective opinion of the client.

Is Fancy Hands A Scam?

Fancy Hands is not a scam. However, I can’t recommend you to apply for this company.

Yes, there are a lot of jobs VA (Virtual Assistant) jobs here. However, you have to pay to apply for this job, which is a big NO for me.

Like I said earlier in this Fancy Hands review, there are a lot of online jobs out there where you can apply for free, and you can find a lot of job opportunities as well.

Also, the company only allows people to apply if they live in the US, so you can’t apply here if you are outside the country.

Not just that, as I said earlier, there is no guarantee that the tasks will be available anytime, so you have to wait for it.

There are a lot of ways to make money online, but that depends on you on what kind of job you’re looking for.

If you are looking for a part-time job and want to earn some extra income, there are survey sites out there where you can do it in your spare time or anytime you want.

But if you want to earn a full-time income, I recommend you to check my number 1 recommendation below.

Fancy Hands Review Online

While doing the research for my Fancy Hands review, I have read quite a lot of customer reviews online about Fancy Hands. Most of them are mixed.

Positive Fancy Hands User Reviews

Flexibility in choice of what and when you work. Even pay is flexible in the sense that you essentially set or agree to an amount for a given task.

You work your own hours. You are your own boss. Working from home is definitely a plus to earning some side money. This is a great job to pay for gas, and buy groceries.

Flexibility in choice of what and when you work. Even pay is flexible in the sense that you essentially set or agree to an amount for a given task.

You can work anytime you want to by claiming your calls are simple and once claimed you can do your call and get paid. Yeah sometimes it does take a lot of calling to get somewhere but it does give you the call center experience and virtual assistance experience that you are needing or want.

Negative Fancy Hands User Reviews

They used to be good at the beginning but can no longer keep up with the competition. They are US-based if that matters to you, but you can find assistance via Fiverr and get better results even with US-based VAs. They don’t even offer posting blog posts, which is super basic VA work. Their customer service is also very low level. And last, proofreading is not even at the level of software tools. Note that when you sign up you have to keep your account to not lose your task credit. Again, with Fiverr and the likes, you can get what you need when you need it. And if you need VA service every month, there are much better options out there. Avoid, this company is not what it once used to be.

Very disappointed in the business model. Could not spend my tasks fast enough. Asked to suspend, they only “reduced my charge to a monthly $7.95” to “maintain” the tasks I had in backlog… 107 to be exact. Talk about throwing good $$ after bad. I am finally canceling the d*mn service. What a crock! The services provided by the assistants were reasonable, but not always great. For instance, I had them review Home Warranty services for me, which someone did, but not thoroughly. I took their recommendation, much to my chagrin and eventual cost and aggravation, as the company they rated highest was actually a massive scam with 3K+ complaints with the BBB. My bad for not double-checking, but that defeats the purpose, yes? Basic data entry and such were pretty good, but some of the assistants would really milk the tasks for as much credit as they could. Not that I blame them, but really?

What I Like About Fancy Hands

  • It can be a nice side hustle
  • You can more or less set at your own working hours
  • You can work from home as long as you have Wifi and a PC
  • Payout is in cash every Tuesday
  • You get paid by task
  • No limit to the number of tasks you can take per day

What I Don’t Like About Fancy Hands

  • No guarantee that some tasks will be available
  • Low-income opportunity
  • Not possible to make a full-time income
  • Some tasks might take longer than estimated
  • Low BBB rating
  • You have to pay to apply

Final Words and HONEST Recommendation

Now, you know what Fancy Hands is and why I don’t recommend this company to you.

Yes, you can earn decent money here by doing some tasks. However, the downside here is that you have to pay to join, which is a big NO.

Also, there are times that some tasks won’t be available, so the money that you pay for that plan will go to waste because, as you can see, each plan has limited requests.

There are many online jobs websites out there, and all you have to do is search for it, but before you join, make sure you do research first, just like what you did right now.

To make sure if that website or company is legit or not.

But again, if you are looking for a way to make money online and want to earn a full-time income, I recommend you to check my number 1 recommendation below.

Thank you for reading my Fancy Hands review.

  1. There are two things I don’t like in particular about this specific program. First of all there is no free plan or some trial version of some kind. I am not willing to pay for something if I don’t see how it works first. And second, I am very skeptical about how much money you can make out of this and if it can become a full time job. From what you write it’s almost impossible to make this a sustainable one.

  2. Hi, Alex! As always, thank you for your incredibly detailed review of Fancy Hands and your perspective on whether it offers enough value to customers. I wasn’t previously familiar with this platform, but based on your extremely useful insights, I agree that it may not be the best approach for me to expand into. Thank you for a very honest review!

  3. Hi there, Looking for different ways to make money online, it has been suggested more than once that being a virtual assistant can help you earn online. I have come across Upwork before, but this is the first time I hear about Fancy Hands. I do question though why one should pay to apply, when there are free platforms available.

Fancy Hands might no be a scam, but I don’t think they are worth joining.

  4. Great post, not a huge fan of this kind of website. Good thing that they are legit, but everything else, in my opinion, is not worthy. A similar story is with online surveys, been there, done that. Agree with you that a platform such as UpWork is better to make money, or even to find someone to work some things for you.

  5. Hello and thank you for the full details on Fancy Hands and a real-world look at what to expect from it. I’m not too keen on paying anyone to work for them, so that part of the business model instantly sends up red flags for me. It’s great that it seems that you really can make some money, but the payout looks relatively low. I appreciate the helpful details – this is one that I’m going to avoid.
