The Home Business Academy Review – a SCAM or Legit Business?

Welcome to the Home Business Academy review. What is this home business program about? How does it work? Is Home Business Academy a scam or a legit business opportunity?

Also known as HBA, Home Business Academy is an online coaching platform with digital marketing tools as well as a community of online entrepreneurs.

In simple words, they help people like you to start with affiliate marketing.

So is HBA legit? Should you go for it?

But first, who am I? Can you trust my opinion?

Hi, I’m Ivan! I’m a successful blogger and affiliate marketer. I went from serving tables in a restaurant to earning a five-figure income online from affiliate marketing!

Moreover, I have also reviewed and tested 600+ programs to find the best way to make money online. In other words, I’m passionate about making money online and helping you to follow in my footsteps!

Now, I bumped into The Home Business Academy a few months ago.

In the meantime, I did my research to help you to understand what this company is about, and to see whether or not there are some benefits to joining the HBA.

Most importantly, I wanted to learn whether The Home Business Academy is a scam or a legit program.

That said, let’s dive into this review to learn more. Keep reading!

NOTE: I’m not promoting Home Business Academy to earn commissions when you buy the membership. That is because I recommend only products that I truly believe in.

The Home Business Academy Review

The Home Business Academy Review – Overview

  • Product Type: Affiliate Marketing
  • Owner: Mike Hobbs and Paul Hutchings
  • Price: $125 per month + UPSELLS
  • Money-Back Guarantee: Only 3 Days
  • Recommended?: Yes, but it’s not the best!

Quick Summary: The Home Business Academy is a platform founded by Mike Hobbs and Paul Hutchings. With this program, they teach how to start an online business.

On top of it, they provide tools like funnel builder, premium coaching, DFY email swipes, etc.

But is it a scam or legit?

✅ Home Business Academy PROS

The good thing about Home Business Academy is the fact that the platform is hype-free. They have step-by-step training that is based on legitimate and workable methods.

In addition to Premium training, they include a funnel builder (tool), live weekly webinars, a lucrative affiliate program, and access to a community.

Another good thing about Home Business Academy is the creators – Mike Hobbs and Paul Hutchings. They are real online entrepreneurs and seven-figure earners.

For a reasonable price, they will give you access to everything they offer inside the HBA program.

🛑 Home Business Academy CONS

One of the things that set me off from the Home Business Academy is the $125 recurring monthly membership fee. Compared to some alternative options, HBA seems overpriced to me.

And a 3-day refund policy is not encouraging either.

👎👍 Scam or Legit?

The bottom line is that the Home Business Academy is not a scam. It’s a legitimate platform for starting an online business based on affiliate marketing methods.

However, $125 per month might be a bit expensive, especially for beginners.

On top of that, to get access to bonus training and funnel builder you’ll have to buy upsells. Two upsells are recurring ($25 and #37 a month), and one is a $1000 one-time payment.

The price, upsells, and refund policy are the only thing that I don’t like about HBA.

That said, to learn more about the content, price, and tools, keep reading my Home Business Academy review

Alternative: If you’re a newbie who is looking to earn passive income online, there are other, more beginner-friendly, and cost-effective alternatives. My top-rated affiliate marketing course has helped me to go from earning $0 to $100’s per day!

What Is The Home Business Academy?

The Home Business Academy is a community of online entrepreneurs and a coaching platform where you can get access to digital marketing tools. In other words, it’s a place where you can get started with affiliate marketing.

The vision of the Home Business Academy is Freedom Through Principle-Centred Leadership.

The truth about online marketing is that it is hard. And to succeed, you need three ingredients.

First of all, you need coaching (training). Then, it would help if you had professional tools. And lastly, success is not possible without support.

And there are very few places where you can get everything you need to build an online business.

I have to say that, the first time I landed on their web pages, I was shocked to see a complete lack of hype and other BS that usually stick from all over the page in scams.

In fact, there was only a 30-minute video with one of the founders, Paul Hutchings, and a few important pages.

The Home Business Academy Webinar

The main idea behind The HBA is to help ordinary people to start a successful digital marketing business using the company’s tools, training, and support system.

The thing that I like about this platform right from the start is the fact that they teach workable methods for making money online.

On top of it, you get all the tools and even access to a large online community.

So if there was any doubt that Home Business Academy could be a scam, it has disappeared from the moment I walked in.

Their program reminded me of the best free affiliate marketing course on the market today. Wealthy Affiliate includes comprehensive training, all the best tools, a super-helpful community, and is cheaper!

However, this Home Business Academy review has just started so let’s keep moving forward to show you what else there is. Let’s start with the brains behind the platform.

Who Owns The Home Business Academy?

The co-owners and founders of The Home Business Academy are Mike Hobbs and Paul Hutchings.

After a lot of years of hustling, they have earned a seven-figure income with digital marketing and decided to create this platform to help others with their tools, training, and support.

The Home Business Academy Owners

As I was listening to Paul, I couldn’t help to notice the similarity between The Home Business Academy and Wealthy Affiliate, which is my top recommendation for starting an online business.

Both platforms have similar training and offer tools and community. Only WA is 2x less expensive and a better option!

But all in all, I was glad to learn that Pail and Mike a real people with a genuine intention to help people to make money online.

Most scams and get-rich-quick schemes hide the owner’s face behind fake identities.

For example, Job Quitter Club is a scam that sells a dream about making money fast with affiliate marketing. Then, you should keep your distance from ClickEarners as well.

That said, let’s move this Home Business Academy review into high gear, and let me show you how it works and what you get inside.

How Does The Home Business Academy Work?

At first glance, I thought that The Home Business Academy is an MLM or a pyramid scam. However, I was surprised to find out that it isn’t any of those things.

The company delivers a set of tools and training that anyone can use to start or improve their existing digital marketing business.

So how does it work?

The modus operandi behind the Home Business Academy is simple.

They host a set of training videos where you can learn how to build sales funnels using their own tool, get traffic through blogging, SEO, Facebook, and YouTube, and promote products via affiliate marketing to earn a passive income online.

I’m personally a big fan of affiliate marketing, and I use it myself to earn an income online.

The idea is simple in theory, but a bit hard to execute in reality. The goal is to find a product people are looking to buy and then connect them with the vendor.

Each time a person buys the product, an affiliate who brought them to the company’s doors will earn a commission.

Depending on the affiliate program, the commissions can be between 2% to a massive 80%.

Also, there’s another way you can leverage The Home Business Academy.

You can join their own affiliate program and promote the HBA products to people who are looking to start an online business.

But more about this a bit later in the Home Business Academy review. In case you’re interested in a quick demo, hit the play button below:

That said, let’s jump to the next section of the Home Business Academy review to learn more about the products inside the platform.

The Home Business Academy Product Line

Now, with all those fundamental questions answered, let’s see what products and services you can get if you ever decide to join the Home Business Academy.

The HBA Funnel Builder

The HBA Funnel Builder gives you the ability to create sales funnels and unlimited marketing pages for any product, service, or business you’d like to serve people with.

The Home Business Academy Funnel Builder

The tool comes with the following features:

  • Lead Capture Pages
  • Thank you Pages
  • Sales pages
  • Order/Checkout Pages
  • Digital products
  • Memberships sites

It also includes The Funnel Builders Academy, which is a step-by-step digital education course, designed to help you get your online marketing up and running so you can be generating leads and gather new customers for your business A.S.A.P.

I’ll go over the price of this product and other features in the next section of The Home Business Academy review.

The HBA Premium

The HBA Premium is a digital education membership created to teach small business owners everything they need to know about:

  • Generating traffic & leads online
  • Gathering customers
  • And converting sales

The Home Business Academy Premium

In addition to extensive training courses on Facebook, YouTube, Blogging, Search Engine Optimization, and email marketing, they also have live daily and weekly coaching masterminds where you can get current training and personalized coaching from Paul and Mike along with other top leaders in the community.

Freedom Launchpad

This is not really a feature or a product that I would say represents Home Business Academy.

In reality, this is a short course on affiliate marketing and funnels designed by Nick Bramble with an intention of promoting Home Business Academy.

The Home Business Academy Freedom Launchpad

In other words, Nick has joined forces with Mike and Paul to help them get more customers through his coaching, and in return, he gets a piece of the pie.

You can read a full review of Freedom Launchpad here.

Nick is also behind the 30 Minute Workday. It’s another crash course and eBook designed to funnel you to the HBA platform where you can get access to real training.

The Ultimate Email and Traffic Swipe File

This feature is an extra course that is focused on teaching you how to spy on your competition and grab their top-performing keywords and ads.

You will also get access to email swipe files with 50+ professionally written email autoresponders.

The Financial Literacy Academy

The Financial Literacy Academy is a digital education membership created to empower people with financial literacy so they can create economic stability in their lives.

It includes expert courses such as:

  • Debt Elimination
  • Tax Strategies For US Business Owners
  • Retirement Planning Strategies
  • Records & Bookkeeping with Quickbooks Online
  • How To Build Long-Term Cash Flow With Rental Properties
  • Stress-Free Property Management
  • Asset Protection 101
  • Business Entity Setup And Maintenance

Together with Mike and Paul, this course is hosted by an attorney and the best-selling author, Mark J Kohler.

The Home Business Academy Price

The good news is that you can try out The Home Business Academy Premium training for only $1 for the first seven days.

After the $1 seven-day trial expires, the price is $125 per month. And here is what you get:

Also, there’s a refund policy in place too. You can use three days to ask for your money back once you have completed the trial.

Extra Costs and Upsells

All other features of Home Business Academy will cost you more money, which is not my favourite thing.

Here’s how much you will have to pay to get access to the entire product line:

  • Funnel Builder $25 a month
  • Freedom Launchpad $37 a month
  • Financial Literacy Academy $1000 one time

Home Business Academy Refund Policy

In case you have bought any of the products from the above, but you have changed your mind, there’s a chance that you can still get a refund.

The problem is that you have only three days to act and they will even charge you a refund fee!

The latter is something that I have never heard about before and I’m quite shocked by the information, to be honest.

In any case, here’s the link to Home Business Academy Refund Policy.

Alternative: If you’re a newbie who is looking to earn passive income online, there are other, more beginner-friendly, and cost-effective alternatives. My top-rated affiliate marketing course has helped me to go from earning $0 to $100’s per day!

The Home Business Academy Affiliate Program

As a member of the platform, you get direct access to The Home Business Academy affiliate program. Here’s the breakdown of the compensation plan and other features of the program:

The affiliate program is based on 1 tier system, which means there are no levels below or above you.

Each time you make a sale, you get to keep 80% ($100) from the sale. And it’s recurring, which means you can earn between $200 and $500 per referral.

However, those are just projections, and they shouldn’t be taken seriously, though.

What I Like About The Home Business Academy

We have concluded that The Home Business Academy is not a scam. As you can see, they offer some valuable content, products, and services and are legitimate companies. Here’s the breakdown of the things I like about the HBA.

  • Complete lack of fake hype, lies, and other scam signs
  • Mike and Paul (co-founders) are seven-figure earners.
  • Useful tools, training, and resources
  • Suitable for beginners and advanced marketers
  • Weekly live webinars
  • Private FB Group
  • Lucrative affiliate program
  • Relatively cheap (there are more affordable and much better alternatives, see the end of the review)

What I Don’t Like About The Home Business Academy

I had to think very hard to find at least one negative thing to say about The Home Business Academy, and the only thing that crosses my mind is this.

  • $125 per month might be a bit too expensive, especially when I compare them to older, and better competition.
  • Extra costs to get access to tools and financial literacy academy courses.
  • Only a 3-day money-back guarantee and they will charge you a fee for a refund!

Paul Hutchings Comment On My HBA Review

Hey Ivan,

I saw your review quite some time ago and was really impressed and wanted to leave you a comment and I’m finally getting around to it.

First, I wanted to congratulate you on your success with affiliate marketing! Love your story of getting out of waiting tables to making a living online. That’s what it’s all about! Well done!

I also wanted to thank you for the compliments in this post. Especially the one where you said you didn’t see any BS or hype in our sales message. One of our goals with The Home Business Academy is to ‘Be the change we wish to see in the home business world and we are not fans of lies, hype, manipulation or high-pressure sales tactics.

Thanks so much for noticing that about us.

Also wanted to let you know that the Freedom Launchpad is not $37 a month as stated in this post. It’s $37 one time and that’s usually if that’s the only product someone buys.

We have the Freedom Launchpad included as a free bonus for people who purchase our Funnel Builder via our $25 business all-in-one offer.

We only have 2 residual products, the $25 funnel builder with funnel builders academy and then the $125 premium Traffic & Conversions academy as you stated correctly.

You mentioned in your article you were shocked about the 3-day refund policy and the ‘re-stocking’ fee.

I’d like to explain those if I can.

Our affiliates wanted to be paid weekly and we wanted to accommodate them. In order to be able to pay every 7 days, we needed to have a shorter refund policy because we can’t pay commissions on products that people request refunds for.

The 3-day refund policy gives a customer enough time to look at the products to make sure they are what we say they are and gives us enough time that we can accurately pay commissions the following week. Hope that makes sense.

You’re correct about the very small re-stocking fee on the refund. The reason for that is because we have to pay our customer service department to process these refunds. Since we pay 80% commissions on all product sales, the company has a very low operating budget, and we have to pay close attention to and minimize all expenses.

Again, this is so we can pay 80% commissions to our affiliates which is one of our high priorities.

You mentioned our 3rd product FLA, and how you don’t love that there’s another product to buy.

A couple of thoughts here.

I’ve never been a fan of selling someone digital marketing training, only to then sell them more digital product training as upsells.

That’s why we decided we would include EVERYTHING related to funnel building in our funnel builders academy, and everything related to traffic and conversions in our premium academy. We have ZERO additional upsells or product launches around these topics.

Many of our affiliates like the ability to earn faster, upfront commissions while they are building their residual income. Depending on when our customers buy this 3rd product, they can earn $400 to $800 one time commissions in addition to the residuals they are creating.

This is one reason for the 3rd (optional) product.

The other reason for the 3rd product is that we want to help people be totally free. This is our vision in The Academy. For us, this means not just earning a residual income with online marketing, but also, being wise with your money, and re-investing it into income-producing assets. When a person has enough money from investments (on top of business income) – they have stepped into an added level of FREEDOM.

This makes it so, that even if markets change, or companies change – they are still free.

This is what the FLA product teaches from a value standpoint.

Hope this additional info is helpful to your readers and I’m happy you’ve found success with Wealthy Affiliate. I’ve seen that program online for many years and have heard great things about it.

Thanks again and wish you all the best!

Is The Home Business Academy a Scam?

I did extensive research to find out whether or not The Home Business Academy is a scam. And the results were good.

In other words, I didn’t find anything that could incriminate this platform.

HBA is a legitimate place to start an online business.

The owners, Paul and Mike, do not use any fake hype, pressure, or lies to get you in as a lot of scams do. They don’t hide the real nature of their business, and in my book, they get to pass the grade.

And the most important fact is that they offer a set of legitimate tools and training for making money online.

In my experience, legitimate platform programs have to have training that’s proven by other users. On top of it, they MUST have a community.

Tools, like the funnel builder in the case of Home Business Academy, are just a small bonus, but it adds up to the legitimacy of the platform.

Usually, low-quality programs and scams have none of the above, but they do use a lot of hype.

For example, Easy eCash and Click Wealth System use a lot of hype to get you to buy the product. But they deliver very little to none!

So if it sounds too good to be true, you can be sure that it is a scam.

The truth is, anyone interested in making money online with affiliate marketing can join Home Business Academy to do so.

It’s not the best platform that I’ve had a chance to review on this blog, but at least it is legitimate.

Alternative: If you’re a newbie who is looking to earn passive income online, there are other, more beginner-friendly, and cost-effective alternatives. My top-rated affiliate marketing course has helped me to go from earning $0 to $100’s per day!

The Home Business Academy Review – Conclusion

These days, when the educational market is flooded with scams and get-rich-quick schemes, it is refreshing to find a company like The Home Business Academy. These guys are genuine and recommended.

So the recap, the HBA is a membership site where you get access to the community, training, and tools.

You can leverage this platform to create affiliate funnels, write blogs, learn SEO and lead generation, email marketing, and make sales by promoting other people’s products.

The platform was created by seven-figure earners, Mike Hobbs and Paul Hutchings, who struck me as two genuine and friendly guys who care about other people’s success.

In addition to useful tools, training, and community, The Home Business Academy offers a lucrative affiliate program that you can leverage to earn an income by promoting the company to others.

All in all, the whole thing is legitimate and recommended to both newbies and advanced marketers.

However, $125 per month might be a bit too much for such a service.

You should check out the rest of this review to discover a better and cheaper alternative to The Home Business Academy.

This is by far one of the best opinions I ever heard about HBA.
Were you once an affiliate of HBA?

Hi Ivan,

It’s good to know that Home Business Academy isn’t a scam but a legitimate platform to start an online business. After reading many scammy product reviews, it’s refreshing this time. 🙂 However, there are still some letdowns such as a 3-day money-back guarantee, upsells, and more expensive than your recommended platform-Wealthy Affiliate.

The only thing I see that Wealthy Affiliate falls less is the funnel builder, but it’s an upgrade option($25 per month) with HBA. Overall speaking, the two platforms are similar, so I believe people tend to find the one at an affordable price…Not to mention Wealthy Affiliate gives you a keyword research tool for free!

Hey Ivan,

Another excellent review and very informative and helpful as always. This does sound like a very legit platform to learn how to build an home business. But, I agree that $125 per month is a bit expensive, especially for the beginners. Maybe if the beginners started with your alternative in Wealthy Affiliate, then as they start earning money from that then they could invest in the Home Business Academy. What do you think?

Thank you for sharing another great review and keep up the excellent work.

All the best,

It’s almost like there’s some machine out there creating all these cookie cutter affiliate marketing training platforms that use the exact same upsells, price points, EVERYTHING! I feel like I’m living Groundhog Day over and over again!

Gome business Academy might not be a scam, but they sure do sound like a lot to learn what you need to, to be successful. The $125 will be a little steep and will not accept up-sales at the same time wow.
They sound like they want to help, but with a steep cost added to the picture, WA is still the best place to get everything you need to be successful.
The three things you say you need to be successful will be all housed at WA.
There is not a better platform out there besides WA, for the price, and education, and all the support you need, to be successful.
Ivan always seems to get down to the bottom of things in these reviews this is an authoritative website in our eyes.

Wow! Good to know that Wealthy Affiliate and Home Business Academy have many things in common but Wealthy Affiliate which I prefer also, is affordable compared to Home Business Academy. As the co-founders of Wealthy Affiliate will always put it, we are out to make money, but we should provide service first and consider our readers and potential clients as a priority. I am so happy to be with Wealthy Affiliate.

I have personally met Mike and Paul! I have made a check with HBA every week for over a year. The community is amazing, such passionate leaders! 80% True commissions really make The Home Business Academy stand out from the rest. There is also a lower-level entry at only 25 bucks a month for their funnel builder! Plus they have introduced a front-end product that is only 27 bucks one time!

Please forgive me! First of all, I’m not computer savvy at all. I don’t know anything. It took me forever to find somewhere to let you know I would like a refund! Please allow my refund I couldn’t understand how to do much of anything. It would be wrong not to do this for me. I should never have tried it to begin with. I’m on social security and had no business trying to do this in the first place. Please believe me I don’t know how to do much at all. Thank You

The Home Business academy sounds like an excellent program, and one of the rare genuine platforms out there. In some ways it seems a bit like Click funnels, with the addition of comprehensive training. Yes, I have to agree, the price is a bit high. However, the affiliate program sounds very generous, and the founders have plenty of experience, being 7 figure earners. You’re suggestion is a better option though, as it’s much less expensive with great training and support.

Thank you for such a great detailed and thorough review of The Home Business Academy. It does sound quite good, I like the sound of the training and the support from a facebook group however I do think its really expensive.

Do you think you can make money in affiliate marketing with wealthy affiliate n their free membership or is it worth paying to be a premium member?

Hey Ivan, you’ve done a tremendious job with your Home Business Academy review. I would like to spice it up just a little bit more by adding that both Paul and Mike are excellent teachers, and I can personally vouch for them since I have been following them for years.

They are genuine, but the thing I love the most about them is the fact they treat everyone in the community equality. It doesn’t matter if you’re earnining $1 or $10 a month, you will still get the same respecect as any other member.

Their work is based on integrity and you can never go wrong with that. Once again, thanks for review! I had a blast reading it… ?
