About the Reviewer
Hey, I’m Ivan Brozincevic!
Since 2018, I’ve been making a full-time income online, which allowed me to quit my old job (about me).
Initially, I struggled to identify legit courses and avoid ones that were just out for my money.
That’s why I created this website – my main goal is to help you steer clear of pitfalls and discover the top online business courses.
Every week, I invest hours reviewing online courses and writing reviews based on my fact-driven review guidelines to assist you in making an informed choice.

Is The Home Business Academy a Scam?
The Home Business Academy is not a scam. Here’s why:
They maintain transparency by not resorting to fake hype, pressure, or dishonesty—unlike many scams. The owners, Paul and Mike, are genuine in their approach and do not conceal any crucial details about their business.
Moreover, HBA provides a comprehensive set of legitimate tools and training for earning money online. In my opinion, a reliable platform must offer proven training backed by other users and foster a supportive community.
While tools like the funnel builder are merely a bonus, they enhance the legitimacy of the Home Business Academy.
In contrast, low-quality programs and scams lack these essential components and heavily rely on exaggerated claims.
For instance, products like Easy eCash and Click Wealth System utilize excessive hype to entice buyers, yet fail to deliver substantial value.
Remember, if something sounds too good to be true, it likely is a scam.
However, for those interested in affiliate marketing and making money online, joining the Home Business Academy is a legitimate option.
While it may not be the best platform I’ve reviewed on this blog, it is a reputable and recommended online marketing program.

What Is The Home Business Academy?
The Home Business Academy is a community of online entrepreneurs and a coaching platform. It provides access to digital marketing tools, making it a great place to start with affiliate marketing.
The vision of the Home Business Academy is “Freedom Through Principle-Centred Leadership.”
Online marketing is undeniably challenging, and success requires three key ingredients. First and foremost, coaching (training) is essential. Additionally, having access to professional tools is crucial. Lastly, support is vital for achieving success.
Unfortunately, there are very few places that offer all the necessary resources for building an online business.
Upon visiting their website for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised by the absence of hype and other deceptive tactics commonly associated with scams.
Instead, I found a concise 30-minute video featuring one of the founders, Paul Hutchings, along with a few important pages.
The HBA (Home Business Academy) aims to assist everyday individuals in establishing a successful digital marketing business. They provide tools, training, and a support system to facilitate this process.
One aspect I appreciate about this platform is its focus on teaching practical methods for earning money online. Furthermore, they offer access to a wide range of tools and a vibrant online community.
Consequently, any concerns about the legitimacy of Home Business Academy are quickly dispelled upon exploration.
Nonetheless, this Home Business Academy review is just getting started, so let’s continue dissecting the platform, beginning with its creators.
Who Owns The Home Business Academy?
Mike Hobbs and Paul Hutchings are the co-owners and founders of The Home Business Academy. After years of hustling, they achieved a seven-figure income through digital marketing.
They created this platform to help others, offering tools, training, and support.
While listening to Paul, I couldn’t help but notice the similarities between The Home Business Academy and Wealthy Affiliate. The latter, which is my top recommendation for starting an online business, offers similar training, tools, and a supportive community.
However, Wealthy Affiliate (WA) stands out as being 2x less expensive and the better option overall.
What impressed me the most was discovering that both Pail and Mike are real people with genuine intentions to help others make money online.
This is a refreshing change from the many scams and get-rich-quick schemes that hide behind fake identities.
For instance, I strongly advise staying away from Job Quitter Club, as it is a scam that sells false dreams about making money quickly through affiliate marketing. Similarly, keep your distance from ClickEarners.
With that being said, let’s delve into the Home Business Academy review and explore how it works and what you can expect once you’re inside.
How Does The Home Business Academy Work?
The Home Business Academy initially seemed like an MLM or pyramid scam, but it pleasantly surprised me to find out it is neither.
The company offers a range of tools and training to support the establishment and advancement of digital marketing businesses.
So, how does it work?
The Home Business Academy operates on a simple modus operandi. They provide training videos that teach you how to build sales funnels using their tool, generate traffic through blogging, SEO, Facebook, and YouTube, and earn passive income online through affiliate marketing.
As a personal advocate of affiliate marketing, I can vouch for its effectiveness in generating online income.
The concept is straightforward in theory but may pose challenges in execution. The objective is to identify a sought-after product and act as the bridge between potential buyers and the vendor. Each purchase made by a referral earns a commission for the affiliate, with commissions ranging from 2% to an impressive 80%, depending on the affiliate program.
Moreover, The Home Business Academy presents an additional opportunity for leveraging its platform. You can join their affiliate program and promote HBA products to individuals interested in starting an online business.
With that said, let’s delve into the next section of this Home Business Academy review to discover more about the products available on the platform.
The Home Business Academy Product Line
Having answered those fundamental questions, let’s explore the range of products and services available to you should you decide to join the Home Business Academy.

In the next section of The Home Business Academy review, I will cover the price of this product and discuss other features.

These sessions provide current training and personalized coaching from Paul and Mike, as well as other top leaders in the community.
Freedom Launchpad
This does not truly represent Home Business Academy as a feature or product. In reality, it is a short course on affiliate marketing and funnels created by Nick Bramble to promote Home Business Academy.
Nick has joined forces with Mike and Paul to help them attract more customers through his coaching. In return, he receives a portion of the pie.
Additionally, you can find a comprehensive review of Freedom Launchpad here.
Nick is also the driving force behind the 30-minute Workday, a crash course and eBook aimed at guiding you towards the HBA platform, where you can access genuine training.

Here is the breakdown of the prices for accessing the complete product line:
- Funnel Builder $25 a month
- Freedom Launchpad $37 a month

Home Business Academy Refund Policy
If you’ve purchased any of the products mentioned above but have had a change of heart, there is still an opportunity for a refund. However, please note that you only have three days to take action, and a refund fee will be deducted. I must admit, the latter is quite surprising and new to me.
In any case, you can find the Home Business Academy Refund Policy here.
The Home Business Academy Affiliate Program
As a platform member, you gain direct access to The Home Business Academy affiliate program. Here’s a breakdown of the program’s features and compensation plan:
- Exclusive affiliate rights that allow you to refer others to their products and earn $100 residuals.
- Commissions are paid every Friday on a 7-day payout cycle.
- The affiliate program follows a 1-tier system, meaning there are no levels above or below you.
For each sale you make, you keep 80% ($100) as your commission. This commission is recurring, so you can potentially earn between $200 and $500 per referral.
However, please note that these figures are projections and should not be taken too seriously.
According to the HBA income disclosure page, the average annual gross revenue for Affiliates based on May 31 2022, to May 31 2023 statistical data is $328.89.

The Home Business Academy Review: Pros
After a thorough evaluation, we have found that The Home Business Academy is a legitimate company, not a scam. They provide valuable content, products, and services.
Here’s what we like about the HBA:
- Complete lack of fake hype, lies, and other scam signs
- Mike and Paul (co-founders) are seven-figure earners.
- Useful tools, training, and resources
- Suitable for beginners and advanced marketers
- Weekly live webinars
- Private FB Group
- Lucrative affiliate program
Home Business Academy has several great features that set it apart. Firstly, the platform is completely hype-free and provides step-by-step training based on legitimate and workable methods.
Not only does Home Business Academy offer premium training, but it also includes a funnel builder tool, live weekly webinars, a lucrative affiliate program, and access to a community.
Furthermore, the creators of Home Business Academy, Mike Hobbs and Paul Hutchings, are real online entrepreneurs and seven-figure earners.
For a reasonable price, you’ll have access to everything the HBA program offers.
The Home Business Academy Review: Cons
I had to think hard to find at least one negative thing about The Home Business Academy, and the only thing that comes to mind is this:
- The $125 monthly fee may be considered expensive, especially when compared to older and better competition.
- Additional costs are incurred to access tools and financial literacy academy courses.
- They only offer a 3-day money-back guarantee and charge a fee for refunds.
- Lack of significant student success stories.
One aspect that disappointed me with the Home Business Academy is the $125 recurring monthly membership fee. In comparison to other options, HBA appears overpriced to me.
Additionally, their 3-day refund policy is not encouraging.
Furthermore, I’m not fond of the way they sell coaching and tools in separate parts. It would be preferable if they consolidated everything under one fee.
Paul Hutchings Comment On My HBA Review
Hey Ivan,
I saw your review quite some time ago and was really impressed and wanted to leave you a comment and I’m finally getting around to it.
First, I wanted to congratulate you on your success with affiliate marketing! Love your story of getting out of waiting tables to make a living online. That’s what it’s all about! Well done!
I also wanted to thank you for the compliments in this post. Especially the one where you said you didn’t see any BS or hype in our sales message. One of our goals with The Home Business Academy is to ‘Be the change we wish to see in the home business world and we are not fans of lies, hype, manipulation or high-pressure sales tactics.
Thanks so much for noticing that about us.
Also wanted to let you know that the Freedom Launchpad is not $37 a month as stated in this post. It’s $37 one time and that’s usually if that’s the only product someone buys.
We have the Freedom Launchpad included as a free bonus for people who purchase our Funnel Builder via our $25 business all-in-one offer.
We only have 2 residual products, the $25 funnel builder with funnel builders academy and then the $125 premium Traffic & Conversions academy as you stated correctly.
You mentioned in your article you were shocked about the 3-day refund policy and the ‘re-stocking’ fee.
I’d like to explain those if I can.
Our affiliates wanted to be paid weekly and we wanted to accommodate them. In order to be able to pay every 7 days, we needed to have a shorter refund policy because we can’t pay commissions on products that people request refunds for.
The 3-day refund policy gives a customer enough time to look at the products to make sure they are what we say they are and gives us enough time that we can accurately pay commissions the following week. Hope that makes sense.
You’re correct about the very small re-stocking fee on the refund. The reason for that is that we have to pay our customer service department to process these refunds. Since we pay 80% commissions on all product sales, the company has a very low operating budget, and we have to pay close attention to and minimize all expenses.
Again, this is so we can pay 80% commissions to our affiliates which is one of our high priorities.
You mentioned our 3rd product FLA, and how you don’t love that there’s another product to buy.
A couple of thoughts here.
I’ve never been a fan of selling someone digital marketing training, only to then sell them more digital product training as upsells.
That’s why we decided we would include EVERYTHING related to funnel building in our funnel builders academy, and everything related to traffic and conversions in our premium academy. We have ZERO additional upsells or product launches around these topics.
Many of our affiliates like the ability to earn faster, upfront commissions while they are building their residual income. Depending on when our customers buy this 3rd product, they can earn $400 to $800 one-time commissions in addition to the residuals they are creating.
This is one reason for the 3rd (optional) product.
The other reason for the 3rd product is that we want to help people be totally free. This is our vision in The Academy. For us, this means not just earning a residual income with online marketing, but also, being wise with your money, and re-investing it into income-producing assets. When a person has enough money from investments (on top of business income) – they have stepped into an added level of FREEDOM.
This makes it so, that even if markets change, or companies change – they are still free.
This is what the FLA product teaches from a value standpoint.
Hope this additional info is helpful to your readers and I’m happy you’ve found success with Wealthy Affiliate. I’ve seen that program online for many years and have heard great things about it.
Thanks again and wish you all the best!
Paul
By the way, here is my own YouTube video on Home Business Academy:
