What is FlexJobs?

FlexJobs is an online job posting service that offers different jobs from part-time jobs, remote jobs, freelance jobs, or work-from-home opportunities to people searching for them.

Sara Sutton founded the company, and it was launched in 2007.

The FlexJobs team hand-screens every job posting before uploading it to their site. Maybe that is why they charge a fee because they have to pay their staff to do this work.

That said, they may reject any commission-only jobs, low-paying positions, or any kind of positions that don’t fit their posting guidelines.

The organizations also have to pay to list their positions, so you will not find any cheap or stingy employers on the platform.

This is also what separates FlexJobs from other online job platforms because some of them are full of scammers that won’t pay you for your work.

Now, let’s crank up this review of FlexJobs and let’s learn more about how it works.

How Does FlexJobs Work?

With FlexJobs, you can find many different jobs there, whether it’s a freelance or remote jobs.

FlexJobs sort their job listing to you so that it only shows freelance opportunities and when you start scrolling through the listings you will find different kinds of jobs from writing jobs, customer service, teaching, and more.

It is up to you what kind of jobs you’re looking for or what type of job will suit you.

The difference between FlexJobs from other online job platforms is that they won’t allow you to apply for a job that requires you to work outside of your local area.

This means that you won’t be wasting your time applying for a job you won’t even be considered for.

The jobs that you applied for will send you off-site to a third-party website to complete the application.

Each company’s application requirements are different. With so many of them, it requires you to set up an account with the job listing host site.

The process is a bit slow if you’re applying for a lot of jobs, you’ll likely have to set up many different accounts. Applying for a job with FlexJobs is still the same as other online job platforms.

The only difference is that you have to pay to sign in, and they won’t allow you to apply for a job that requires you to work outside.

So what do you get if you apply? Keep reading my FlexJobs review to find out…

How Much Does FlexJobs Cost?

Here is the cost of each plan if you want to sign up with FlexJobs.

FlexJobs Price

  1. One week – $6.95
  2. One month – $14.95
  3. Three months – $29.95
  4. One year – $49.95

Everyone can sign up with FlexJobs, so if you decide to sign up, make sure that you find a job right away because if you don’t, you are just wasting your money with nothing in return.

But as I said in my review, this is one of my concerns about FlexJobs because there is a possibility that you won’t get a job right away, so you better spend a lot of time searching before your plan expires.

FlexJobs also offer promo codes, which can bring the price down even more.

How Much Money Can You Make With FlexJobs?

To be honest, the amount of money that you can earn with FlexJobs is really up to you. If you are willing to invest yourself in it, well, the sky is the limit…

Some clear elements consist of whether the job you relate to is entry-level or executive, freelance or long-term work, part-time or full-time, and all the corresponding in-betweens.

For freelancers, the number of earnings will especially depend upon how many tasks you handle during the year and how well you present yourself to new prospects.

If you get your first step with a client as well as have the ability to establish a great rapport, it may also lead to more contracts.

Flexjobs’ freelance jobs, in particular, tend to pay either per hr or per project.

To give a couple of examples, some recent freelancing work listed include a UX designer for $70 per hr, a visuals developer for $38 per hr, and a wellness/ medical writer at $125-500 per post.

Not all listings include the wage for you to have a look at in advance, yet customers, as well as companies, are starting to consist of that info in an increasing number.

And also, FlexJobs’ screening team makes it their company to discover fair, market value, as well as even high-paying alternatives.

Alternative: On the other hand, if you’re looking for the best business model to earn passive income online as a beginner, there are other, more suitable, and cost-effective alternatives.

Is FlexJobs a Scam?

Now, before I actually share my final verdict on whether FlexJobs is legit or a scam in my review, let’s go over a few red flags.

Outdated job listings

Some job listings on FlexJobs are old or outdated. The reason why those outdated jobs are still there may be because the employers forgot to take the listing down once the position is filled.

So you better keep an eye on the listing date to ensure you aren’t applying for an outdated job.

Not all jobs are remote

FlexJobs has thousands of remote job listings, but not all of them are work-from-home jobs.  In addition, FlexJobs approves listings that offer alternative and flexible schedules even if they aren’t necessarily remote.

So, it would be best if you kept an eye on this. It is easy to weed out location-specific jobs by using their advanced search function.

You can find some of the job listings elsewhere

Some of these employers who list their jobs on FlexJobs can also be found on other online job websites. So you better take a look at it first before taking up the job.

You have to pay before you find a job

As you already know, you have to pay the sign-up fee before you take the job. You have to pay a fee because they have to pay their staff to do this work.

Finding a job is not that easy, and it takes a lot of time to find a job, so if you plan to find a job with FlexJobs, you gotta do it fast.

It is up to you what plan you choose just remember to find a job so that you can take back the money you spend.

Is FlexJobs Legit?

FlexJobs is not a scam. It is a legitimate online job platform where you can find different kinds of jobs to choose from.

Considering that FlexJobs utilizes a paid model to provide their services, individuals frequently question if they’re a genuine system.

Let’s face it, the amount of scams freelancers like us routinely deal with is frustrating.

Freelancers need to be on consistent alert concerning this, often investing added energy and time simply attempting to iron out which possibilities are real as well as worth their time.

So if you’ve been asking on your own, “is FlexJobs legit” – they are.

They’ve been a well-known work site since 2007 when founder Sarah Sutton, still a brand-new mom, required the flexibility to function from residence however rapidly recognized most work boards teemed with advertisements and scams.

So, she determined to produce the risk-free, effective job board she was seeking.

The site states they have a study team of qualified people that invest 200+ hours a day vetting prospective employers for you.

They’ve been included in publications like CNN, Forbes, and also Organization Expert, to name a few.

So yes, not only are they legit, but, they actually make it their objective to just collaborate with legitimate clients, hand-picking protected task chances for freelancers like you

To add to their legitimacy FlexJobs has an excellent rating with BBB with a 4.5/5 rating and an A+.

FlexJobs BBB Rate

They also got excellent ratings with SiteJabber, and they got 4.7/5 star ratings from 5,156 reviews.

SiteJabber Ratings

As you can see, FlexJobs got a lot of positive reviews from its members. That is why this company is a legit online job platform.

The downside of FlexJobs is that you have to pay to register, and I understand why because they have to pay for their workers.

Also, many jobs posted on the platform are also available on other online jobs platforms, and they are free, unlike with this company, you have to pay for it for you to take the job.

Finding a job is not easy, and there are times when it will take you more than a week or 2 to get a job.

This is one of my concerns about FlexJobs because what if you don’t find a job for a week, so you have to spend more money again to find the right job for you.

The decision is up to you. FlexJobs is legit in my review.

Alternative: On the other hand, if you’re looking for the best business model to earn passive income online as a beginner, there are other, more suitable, and cost-effective alternatives.

FlexJobs Review – Pros

  • You can find a lot of different jobs here.
  • You get access to its special features
  • Hundreds of vetted jobs with credible employers
  • It saves job seekers a lot of time

FlexJobs Review – Cons

  • It is not free
  • You could find similar jobs on other online jobs platforms that are free.
  • Emphasis on US-based employers and jobs
  • There is no guarantee that you’ll get hired right away.

If you need a second opinion, feel free to watch the FlexJobs review from my buddy Aaron Chen below…

FlexJobs Review – My Final Verdict

There are a lot of online job platforms out there where you can sign up for free. Just like FlexJobs, you can also find a lot of different jobs in different categories.

The good thing about FlexJobs is that they provide screening services that other sites don’t have and a guarantee that those jobs are scam-free.

The decision is up to you as all of them are the same. The only difference is that with FlexJobs it has screening services, and you have to pay to sign up.

If you are looking for a free one, there are a lot of them out there on the web. But be careful, though, because there are jobs out there that will scam you out of your money.

Thanks for taking the time to read my FlexJobs review!

  1. Since there are so many free platforms for jobs on the market, I personally wouldn’t go for FlexJobs, as you have to pay in order to get approved on their platform. But obviously, everyone is free to choose for himself and if other people don’t mind paying to find the same jobs they could get for free, it’s their business. I would probably stick to Upwork or Freelancer if I wanted an online job.

    • Hi Ashley, thanks for your comment. I feel the same way as you. FlexJobs could do much better if you could get free access to these jobs. Anyways, glad this review was helpful.

  2. Hello, I was reading your article about FlexJobs. I noticed that it has more advantages and is a more secure platform for earning money. However, I didn’t enjoy the fact that people had to pay first in order to get in. It appears to be somewhat costly for me. Another issue I discovered with FlexJobs is the limited time you have to find the job you want.
However, thank you for pointing out that there are plenty of similar jobs that are both legitimate and free.
Those are the ones I believe people should feel free to sign up for, choose a job, and work.
Thank you for taking the time to post this review.

  3. I have been looking for a legitimate site to find jobs that I can do remotely, so it is great to come across this review on FlexJobs, an online job posting service that I was not familiar with.

The fact that the FlexJobs team hand-screens every job posting before uploading it to their site, does make it seem so much more possible to find a suitable job with them. They also seem to offer many other services like skill tests and career coaching. Thank you for sharing this great resource and I will check them out more.

  4. I have used Flex Jobs but however, find it annoying with all the emails I receive on daily basis. Even after unsubscribing from the job board I still get emails from them and would think this is now spamming which is illegal. Flexjobs does provide actual jobs, as they help me land my part part-time job but not many legimate ways to work from home jobs.

  5. Hmm, FlexJobs seems like one of the more interesting and compelling ways to find freelance work. Freelancers know that each job can have surprises, so it’s super helpful to find a solid source for getting high-quality gigs.

Thanks for the tip about making sure to find a job quickly if you do sign up — otherwise it’s definitely wasting money!

  6. Finding a legit job on a jobs platform is definitely hard, and can be a bit overwhelming process when dealing with unknown employers. I can certainly relate to the frustration of searching for a job that can be done remotely, when majority of them require to be done in person.

Scammers definitely make searching for a legit job online miserable for anyone anxious enough to finding a job right away.

    Thanks for the review!

  7. Because there are so many free employment platforms on the market, I wouldn’t recommend FlexJobs because you have to pay to get approved on their platform. But, certainly, everyone is free to make their own decisions, and if others don’t mind paying to locate jobs that they might get for free, that’s their choice.

Those are the ones for which I believe people should be free to sign up, choose a job, and work.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review.

  8. The difference between FlexJobs from other online job platforms is that they won’t allow you to apply for a job that requires you to work outside of your local area. The ability to work from your computer and handle business many miles away is a big attraction for someone to be able to work from home. For example, with modern technology it is possible to teach students online from all over the world. In reality, many jobs can be done from a person’s computer and business can be conducted all over the world. Although Flexjogs offer services that can really help someone to find work, job seekers are already stressed financially and are already finding it hard without the pressures of paying extra money. Your recommendation is well worth considering but again takes time to build.

  9. I think you are right when you say that paying to find a job will get many into thinking if this is a real platform. But is paying a subscription the only way to go? Maybe they could incorporate ads in their website to pay their expenses. I am sure many will not want to pay what is asked and will look for a job elsewhere just for that. Maybe they could at least have some short of trial period or a free subscription with limited features or something.
